UCA’s George shoots 65, tied for first at Atchafalaya

PATTERSON, La. – Sophomore Lewis George is tied for first place and the University of Central Arkansas Bears sit in a second-place tie after two rounds of the Atchafalaya Intercollegiate being played at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild.

George, a sophomore from Cheshire, England, shot the low round of the day Monday afternoon with a 65, one shot off tying the school record. George had rounds of 74-65 for a 139, putting him in a three-way tie for first with one round remaining.

As a team, UCA shot 293-288_581, tied with fellow Southland Conference team Incarnate Word (581) and trailing only Louisiana-Monroe by 17 strokes. UTRGV is fourth (582), followed by host Nicholls (584), Mobile (598), New Orleans (599) and Texas Southern (603).

For the Bears, sophomore Luis Obiols shot 71-74_145 and is tied for 11th place. Senior Ryan Shuttleworth shot 76-72_148 and is tied for 20th, while junior Louis Tomlinson shot 72-77_149 and is tied for 23rd. Sophomore Alvaro Carol Estrems shot 76-77_153 and is tied for 33rd place. Junior Rodrigo Rivas, playing as an individual, is tied for 35th (78-76_154).

The third and final round is set for Tuesday.
