BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference releases its 2016 predicted order of finish today with the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Football team predicted to finish fifth in SWAC Western Division.
Prairie View A&M was predicted to win the Western Division as they received 41 total points. Grambling State is slated to finish second with 35 points. Southern received 35 points for a third place prediction and Texas Southern garnered 16 points for a fourth place predicted order of finish.
On the Eastern Division side, two-time conference champions Alcorn State is predicted to win the division once again with 44 points. Alabama State received 35 points for a second place predicted finish. Jackson State tallied 28 points for a predicted third place finish, followed by Alabama A&M with 16 points for a fourth place finish and Mississippi Valley State is predicted finish with fifth with 12 points.
UAPB will open their 2016 season against Tennessee State in the Big John Merritt Classic on Saturday, September 3 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., in a 6 p.m. kickoff.
The following week, the Golden Lions will host Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday, September 10 in a 6 p.m. kickoff at Golden Lion Stadium.
