QUINCY, Ill. – After sweeping a doubleheader yesterday, Central Baptist College took the field at Notre Dame High School today trying to finish off an American Midwest Conference series sweep of the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange. CBC (19-18, 12-9 AMC) finished the sweep, jumping on Hannibal (12-21, 5-18 AMC) early and winning 5-3.

Mark Rucker (JR/Hot Springs, Ark.) got the start in game three and pitched well. Baker Wilson (SR/Harrison, Ark.) hit the lone home run of the game after a Mustang barrage of eight in a doubleheader yesterday.

CBC opened the scoring in the second inning. Kelvin Volquez (JR/Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) led off the inning with a single and moved to third on a single by Jay French (SO/Magnolia, Ark.). Three batters later, Ryan Guyton(SR/Cordova, TN) was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Jamal Washington (SR/Blytheville, Ark.) followed with a two-run single to give CBC a 2-0 lead. The Mustangs extended the lead to 4-0 in the third when Harber led off the inning with a single and was brought home on Wilson’s two-run home run, his second of the series and seventh of the season.

The Trojans responded with a single run in the fourth to cut it to four one and then added two in the fifth to cut the lead to 4-3 which closed the book on Rucker. Caleb Muns (FR/Benton, Ark.) relieved Rucker in the seventh and walked a man with two outs but kept the Trojans off the board. The Mustangs scored their final run of the contest in the eighth on a single by Volquez to make it 5-3. Gavin Johnson (JR/Little Rock, Ark.) relieved Muns in the eighth and gave up a pair of hits and nothing else and Austin Cree (SR/Texarkana, Texas) picked up the save in the ninth, setting down the Trojans in order.

Rucker went 6 innings and allowed eight hits and three runs with four strikeouts to earn the win. Muns, Johnson and Cree combined to go three innings and allowed just two hits with a walk and a strikeout.

The Mustangs stay on the road for their next game on Tuesday afternoon when they step out of AMC play to face the Bobcats of College of the Ozarks.
