Lyon’s shooting program places eighth in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas. – The Lyon College shooting program competed in the 2017 ACUI Collegiate competition, and finished eighth out of 32 total teams in their division in American Trap. Dalton Lamons led the team with a perfect score of 100, placing in second place in Class A at the National Shooting Complex.

The shooting team consisted of Lamons, Sumner Barnes, Kullins Koeling, Blake Caldwell and Seth Hixson.

Lyon shooting program’s sponsor Randy Lamons said Dalton had to go through three phases to work his way to the second place finish.

“He had several shoot offs against 15 other shooters,” Lamons said. “The other 15 had perfect scores. The entire competition had over 800 individuals competing.”

In the American Trap competition, Caldwell and Hixson were second on the team with a 96, while Koeling scored a 92 and Barnes posted a 90.

In American skeet, Lamons led the team with a 94, while Barnes posted a 90. Caldwell, Koeling and Hixson then rounded out the squad with scores of 88, 81 and 78, respectively. The scores in both competitions were based off 100 targets.
