Mustangs grab early lead and dominate Pioneers

PARAGOULD – Playing their second straight road game and second non-conference game of the season, Central Baptist College took on the Pioneers of Crowley’s Ridge College tonight. CBC (3-0) raced out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter, led 54-25 at halftime and cruised to a 94-56 win over CRC (1-7).
Alexis Augustus led four Mustangs in double-figures in scoring and was also the leading rebounder. Holly Allen led the way in assists for CBC.
MUSTANG NOTES
- Augustus had 19 points and seven rebounds to lead CBC in those categories for the first time this season
- Kendra Cummings tied her career-high with 13 points, all coming in the first half
- Sierra Carrier had a career-high 13 points in the contest
- Aaliyah Cash posted a career-best 12 points
- Allen had four assists
- CBC outshot the Pioneers 53 percent to 27 percent from the floor and outrebounded them 43-36
- CBC outscored CRC 27-7 off turnovers, 50-13 in the paint and 41-27 off the bench

- Alexus Taylor led CRC with 16 points
- Taylor Madden had seven rebounds
- Tessa Johnson handed out three assists

The Mustangs have eight days off before they return to the court on Nov. 27 for an American Midwest Conference matchup against No. 5 Freed-Hardeman. Tip-off for the game in Henderson, Tenn., is at 5:30 p.m.
