Mustangs grab early lead and dominate Pioneers

PARAGOULD – Playing their second straight road game and second non-conference game of the season, Central Baptist College took on the Pioneers of Crowley’s Ridge College tonight. CBC (3-0) raced out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter, led 54-25 at halftime and cruised to a 94-56 win over CRC (1-7).

Alexis Augustus led four Mustangs in double-figures in scoring and was also the leading rebounder. Holly Allen led the way in assists for CBC.

MUSTANG NOTES

  • Augustus had 19 points and seven rebounds to lead CBC in those categories for the first time this season
  • Kendra Cummings tied her career-high with 13 points, all coming in the first half
  • Sierra Carrier had a career-high 13 points in the contest
  • Aaliyah Cash posted a career-best 12 points
  • Allen had four assists
  • CBC outshot the Pioneers 53 percent to 27 percent from the floor and outrebounded them 43-36
  • CBC outscored CRC 27-7 off turnovers, 50-13 in the paint and 41-27 off the bench

PIONEER NOTES

  • Alexus Taylor led CRC with 16 points
  • Taylor Madden had seven rebounds
  • Tessa Johnson handed out three assists

UP NEXT

The Mustangs have eight days off before they return to the court on Nov. 27 for an American Midwest Conference matchup against No. 5 Freed-Hardeman. Tip-off for the game in Henderson, Tenn., is at 5:30 p.m.
