CONWAY –  Central Baptist, holding on to their AMC Tourney life, came up big on Friday with a doubleheader sweep of the Park Pirates.  The Mustangs won the first game 4-1, and the nightcap in amazing fashion 14-12.

The wins give CBC (24-22, 11-13) a one and a half game lead over Park for the final spot in the AMC Tournament with four games to play.

The Mustangs scored first in the opening game after Josh Hibbard (SR/Munford, TN) was moved around after his single.  Monterio May (SR/Helican, AL) singled as did Santez Richardson (SR/Donalsonville, GA). Nash Nichols (JR/Conway, AR) walked to score Hibbard.  Park would get its lone run on a fielder’s choice by Rafael Torres-Castillo.  CBC would answer with three more runs as Nichols, Austin Kuchinski (SO/Powder Springs, GA) and Ben Madison (SO/Benton, AR) would all have doubles in the inning.

CBC has been successful in extra-inning games and tonight was no different.  Game Two saw the Pirates race out to an 8-4 lead after five innings.  No one scored in the sixth and seventh with CBC holding Park down in the eighth.  The Mustangs would score three in the bottom on a L’Donta Howard (SO/Foreman, AR) homerun to left field to make it 8-7 Park.  The Pirates would bounce back with four runs before CBC would answer with five in the bottom of the ninth to even it at 12-12.

CBC held in the tenth to set up the heroics by All-American Jalin Lawson (SR/Troy, AL).  Josh Hibbard would reach on a walk and Lawson would go to right field for the two-run dinger to win the game.

UP NEXT: CBC will host Park University on Saturday, Senor Day for the Mustangs. The single game will begin at noon.
