Mustangs stumble at NCCAA Regional, post highs for the season

McPHERSON, Kan. –  The Central Baptist College Mustangs completed their 2016-2017 season this week at the NCCAA Central Region Championship hosted by Central Christian College of Kansas.  The eight team field was divided into Pool play with CBC seeded #4 in a field with #1 Oklahoma Baptist University, #5 Central Christian College and #8 Randall University.

The Mustangs (30-27) were 0-3 in pool play as Randall University won 1-0, Central Christian College 2-0, and Oklahoma Baptist University 6-2.  Oklahoma Baptist was 3-0 and will advance to the Saturday Championship with Southwestern Christian University (Pool B winner).

The 30 wins this season by CBC marks the fourth season in a row under Head Coach Dr. Aaron Brister that the Mustangs have won 30 games or more.

Pitcher Ben Madison (SO/Benton, AR) was second in all NAIA in the regular season with 119 strikeouts. (one less than the leader at 120).  Madison lead the country with strikeouts per game with a 14.34 average.

Pitcher Brian Moreno (JR/La Victoria, Venezuela) was 15th in strikeouts per game with a 11.31 average and 85 for the season. The Mustangs as a team ranked #2 in total batters struck out with 502.

Monterio May (SR/Helican, AL) tied for first in the NAIA with a 1.000 Fielding percentage.  Jalin Lawson (SR/Troy, AL) was #13 in total doubles (22).
