ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Lady Tigers’ women’s basketball team defeated Texas A&M-Commerce at home by a final score of 81-75. Sophomore guard Alivia Huell led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 16 points, while four other Lady Tigers contributed with double-digit scoring. Ouachita made 34 trips to the free-throw line, making 27.
The win improves the Tigers’ record to 3-2 on the season.
Ouachita opened the game with three-point shot from Madison Brittain and never looked back. The Lady Tigers jumped out to an early 8-0 lead and did not trail in the entirety of the game. Ouachita led 34-25 at halftime. Ouachita led by as much as 14 in the third quarter and hung on to win by six.
Ouachita had a well-rounded performance in the victory. Five Lady Tigers scored in double-digits, including Huell (16), Brittain (10), Morgan Miller (10), Chasidee Owens (12), and Shakayla Begnaud (12). Huell also contributed with 10 rebounds to complete a double-double, her first as a Lady Tiger.
The Lady Tigers next game will occur on Dec. 1 against Southeastern Oklahoma State. The game in Durant, Okla., will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
