CULVER CITY, Calif. – Lyon College volleyball junior outside-hitter, Michayla Shanks, has been named as the PrepVolleyball.Com Non-Division I Player of the Week after helping the Scots to a 4-0 record last week. The honor is awarded to the top player among NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. This is the first time a Lyon College Volleyball player has earned the honor.
Shanks played a key role in helping the Scots to a perfect record last week as she totaled 33 kills while recording a .373 hitting percentage across nine total sets played. She also helped the Scots defensively as she added 29 digs to her weekly total. Shanks best match of the week came in a sweep of Tougaloo College last Tuesday when she compiled 10 kills on just 17 attempts. She did all of this after turning her ankle in a match the Saturday prior but toughed it out to lead the team to a huge week.
The Lyon College volleyball team will compete at the Eutectic Classic this weekend in St. Louis, Mo. The Scots will face Oklahoma City and St. Mary on Friday before ending the classic against Cumberland and Robert Morris (Ill.) on Saturday.
