UAM eclipses 100-point mark for third time this season

MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball team dominated the Patriots of Baptist Bible College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon with a 100-29 victory inside Steelman Field House.

The Weevils (7-0, 4-0 GAC) began the contest on a 24-5 run with 10:05 left in the opening half of play over the Patriots. UAM continued to surge ahead, holding a 51-6 halftime lead over BBC and Arkansas-Monticello carried that momentum into the second half, with multiple big point runs to seal the victory at 100-29 over the visitors.

Leading the UAM offense during the afternoon was junior Derylton Hill with 18 total points and also pulled down six overall rebounds in the game. Senior Vicktor Arnick added 16 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the field as well.

Multiple Weevils found themselves in double figure scoring in this match-up as Hunter Daley finished the game with 15, Cobe Goosby contributed 11, and Tyrin Jones added 10 points. Goosby also recorded his first double-double of the season as he was able to grab 10 total rebounds and also dished out eight assists. Karim Mawuenyega posted a solid stat-line of his own with seven points, seven rebounds and nine assists as well.

Arkansas-Monticello finished the contest shooting 56 percent from the field (44-for-78), 40 percent from beyond the arc (8-for-20) and 57 percent on free throws (4-for-7). BBC ended the match-up at 18 percent from the field (10-for-56), 22 percent on threes (8-for-36) and 25 percent on foul shots (1-for-4).

UAM will be back on the court next on Saturday, December 31 as the Weevils will host non-conference opponent Carver College inside Steelman Field House with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m.
