UCA’s Wong leads field after Round One at Texas State

KYLE, Texas – University of Central Arkansas freshman Geraldine Wong shot a career-low 2-under 69 on Monday to lead the field by two strokes after one round of the Texas State Invitational being played at Plum Creek Golf Course.

The second round was not completed because of darkness and will conclude at 8 a.m. Tuesday, followed by the third and final round.

UCA is in second place with a 297 score, trailing on ly Houston Baptist at 294. UTSA is third (300), followed by Georgia Southern (302), Texas State (305), Lamar and UTEP (306), Arkansas State (307), ULM (308), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (310), James Madison and North Dakota State (311), UT Arlington (312), McNeese State (313), Little Rock (315), Stephen F. Austin (316) and UT Rio Grande Valley (319).

For UCA, senior Fernanda Lira is tied for 13th after shooting a 4-over 75. Junior Emma Svensson is tied for 23rd with a 76, followed by freshman Brett Permann tied for 31st (77) and junior Sally Fridstrom tied for 50th (79).
